Seasonal jobs are more varied than you think
The holidays really seem to have come early this year. The day after Halloween, workers strung lights up on the trees along the street near my office, and all of the stores nearby were adorned with Christmas trees and garland.
But don’t get fooled into thinking it’s too late to find a seasonal job. This year, 58 percent of hiring managers surveyed by CareerBuilder.com plan to hire seasonal employees in the fourth quarter.
Although many seasonal jobs are in retail, don’t limit yourself. The most popular positions for seasonal recruitment include retail, hospitality, shipping/delivery, administrative/clerical, customer service, food preparation and sales.
- Start applying early – Many hiring mangers fill their jobs within two weeks.
- Show enthusiasm – Focus on new skills and opportunities you’ll get, not the store discount.
- Dress the part – If you’re applying for a retail job, show up in a professional outfit from that store.

Dear Manager,
My name is Ksenia, I am writing to you from Russia, from Vladivostok city. With this letter I would like to enquire for a summer position at Your Company. My friends and I will travel to USA this summer as Work and Travel participants (it's cultural exchange program, I believe you know about it). We are very diligent girls and boys, accurate, energetic and always on-the-go. We have got good work experience in service line and would be happy to become you crew members this summer. Our sponsor organization is CIEE, it provides us with all necessary documents to work in USA. If you are interested in us, please reply: we will provide you with our resumes, photos and cover letters. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Ksenia and friends
