We released the results of our CareerBuilder.com annual job forecast today. Despite record energy costs and the damage caused by hurricanes and other disasters in the U.S., the nation's economy has expanded at a healthy pace and is paving the way for a sturdy job market in 2006. Fifty-four percent of hiring managers say they will increase their staffs in the coming year while only 9 percent will decrease them. Other survey highlights include:- One-in-five hiring managers plan to add more than 50 new employees; one-in-ten will add more than 100 new employees.
- Healthcare, Accounting/Finance, IT, Engineering, Sales, Retail and Customer Service are the most popular positions hiring managers say they'll be recruiting for in 2006.
- Employers in the South and West are slightly more optimistic about their recruitment plans. Fifty-five percent of hiring managers in these regions plan to add headcount compared to 53 percent in the Midwest and 50 percent in the Northeast.
- Although job satisfaction levels have improved significantly over prior year, nearly three-in-ten workers plan to change jobs in the new year and 41 percent plan to do so by the end of 2007.
