The US economy added 211,000 jobs in March 2006, and the unemployment rate held steady at 4.7 percent, according to the latest employment numbers released Friday by the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The service-providing sector saw big gains this month, with job increases concentrated in:
- Professional and business service jobs (52,000 new jobs)
- Leisure and hospitality jobs (42,000 new jobs)
- Retail trade jobs (33,000 new jobs)
- Health care jobs (24,000 new jobs)
